Privacy Policy

Sotto is built to know as little about you as possible. This explains what the app does keep, why, and what you can do about it.

Your account

Joining creates an anonymous internal account with no name, username, or profile. If you choose to secure it with Sign in with Apple or an email link, that identity is stored only to let you recover the account — it is never shown to anyone.

Location

Only while you use the app, and only if you allow it. Your phone rounds your position to roughly 200 m before sending it. It’s used to find nearby posts and, if you choose, stored with a post so others can see a coarse distance band like “1–3 km away”. Nobody ever sees coordinates.

What you create

Posts, comments, reactions, saves, follows, reports, and private messages are stored so the app can work. Photos you choose are resized and stripped of location and camera details on your phone before upload.

Photo search uses Unsplash. Suggested searches come from fixed phrases worked out on your phone — the text of your post is never sent to Unsplash.

Notifications

If you allow notifications, a device token is stored to deliver them. Notifications say what happened (“Someone replied”) but never include what anyone wrote.

Purchases

VIP purchases are handled by Apple and RevenueCat. Sotto receives whether your subscription is active, never your payment details.

Analytics and crash reports

Off unless you turn them on in Me → Privacy. When on, they cover which features are used and crashes — never what you write, who you are, or where you are.

What Sotto never does

No ad tracking, no selling data, no advertising profiles.

Your controls

Export everything you’ve created, or delete your account and its content, under Me → Account & Data. Reports and moderation records are kept in minimised form after deletion where safety or the law requires it.

This website

This site sets no cookies. If you join the beta waitlist, your email address is stored with our email provider, Resend, and used only to send you the beta invite. Every email includes a way to unsubscribe, or you can ask us to remove you at any time. If we measure visits, it’s with cookieless, aggregate page counts that don’t identify you.
